My Introduction [06 Aug 2006|01:20pm]

After starting this community - I realized I never gave a proper introduction into my business.

I am the co-owner of a Farmers Insurance Agency called Rahrovi Insurance. Our office is located in Mountlake Terrace, but we travel all over to meet our clients and deliver their policies.
Insurance is a funny thing - because everyone needs it, its required by law, but because there are so many agents to choose from, you really have to create a niche for yourself in the business.

I am constantly trying to think of ways to one-up the competition - you have to.
We are, as far as I know - the ONLY PERSONAL agents available 24 hours a day - 7 days a week - 365 days a year. My partner has a background in claims so we are able to give advice on filing and handling your claim as well.
In addition to English, we also offer our services in Spanish and Farsi.
And while it sounds cliche, we treat our clients as our family, always looking out for their best interests and ways to further save them money.
We offer Auto, Home, Renters, Life, Business, Motorcycle, Boat, other off road vehicle, and PET Insurance.

Its encouraging that most of the time we are able to beat out companies such as Geico, Progressive, Nationwide, State Farm (Unless the client has been with them for years and has a clean record...) Safeco, Allstate, Esurance, Vern Fonk and their affliates, etc...

The challenge is trying to get someone to let you give them a comparison quote. Many people don't worry about their insurance coverage until they have the misfortune of filing a claim - or when they get a ticket, or at renewal time when their rates increase.
I like to let people know that anytime is a good time for a comparison quote - you can start saving today, and if you are paid up with your current company - they do refund your premium.

So, now comes the network part of my post - Ideally I would like to align myself with mortgage officers, real estate agents and auto finance managers. We are able to insure literally almost any type of home, regardless of age of construction or construction type. We also are available to hand deliver insurance binders to your office if requested - and of course we are available virtually anytime.
In addition, because like I mentioned before - insurance is a necessity, I would be happy to evaluate any of your current coverages and offer you a comparison quote as well - I can be reached at agentgirrrl @ yahoo.com!

There is the nuts and bolts of it! If you haven't made a post such as this giving the details of your business - I would love it if you would.
What are the biggest challenges in your line of business? What have been your greatest sucesses?

Hello! Thanks again to those of you who have joined this community so far.
Feel free to post some introductions - I'll be sure to post one of my own, so we can see what kind of businesses our members represent.

I thought I would point out a website which has so far been helpful to me, it is http://www.biznik.com.
Check it out and join - meet other like minded people at the meetings they hold weekly!

Just an example - I've recently done business with a fellow member of Biznik, Laura Totten of Seattle took our business photos and she did an excellent job, and gave me a great deal.
So check it out!

the previous post from me should have gone somewhere else, but it didn't, and for some reason the "delete" button isn't there, so...

i am the owner and proprietor of Hybrid Elephant, a diverse selection of skills that my wife and i share which started out as hobbies, but at this point are somewhat more than that, so we formed a business umbrella under which we could collect all of them and make something legitimate out of them. i do music stuff (if you read my previous post, you'll have probably figured that out) basically performance (i am the tubist for the fremont philharmonic, and one of the trombonists for the ballard sedentary sousa band), foley, which includes sound effects, and live sound engineering. i am also a professional tech geek, a web designer, graphic artist, and a typographer. my wife is a dog person. she is the hospital manager and the lead registered veterinary technician at the Mercer Island Veterinary Clinic and she teaches obedience and agility at the Seattle Agility Center.

i've made a decision, which, for me, is pretty monumental, and it's been brought about by spending the past month doing gigs 5 days a week. the fact is, i enjoy doing gigs. i don't enjoy going to "work" five days a week as a tester, and i can tolerate doing 5 days a week as a graphic artist and typesetter, but i'd rather be playing. the problem previously has been that i don't get paid (as much, if at all) for playing, and i do get paid for being a tester or a typesetter, but at this point, i don't care any more. as the naked puppet said, "sometimes you don't need a job, sometimes you need a life." i remember when i was in the tech school i couldn't imagine getting paid for playing (which includes doing the things that i was trained to do at the tech school), but that's what i wanted, and now, finally, i've figured out that playing is what i want to do, regardless of whether i get paid or not. i had a near-death experience and survived, so i've been given a second chance at life, and i don't want to screw it up again. fuck work. i'm through with working.

it's kind of a scary decision, but it's also kind of an exciting one.

Hello, my name is Matt and I am an...   (oops, wrong group!) ;)

I have 2 small businesses that I operate here in the Seattle area.

The first being "Technology Consulting" for home and small business users.  This is kind of a broad term for 'professional geek'.
My services include:

  • Setup, troubleshooting, and repair of computers and networks

  • Wireless communication - Including, but not limited to WiFi, Cellular, PDA's, Notebooks, etc.

  • Home Theatre Systems - Whether you need to setup and install Home Theatre or just program your VCR DVR :p

  • Pretty much, if it plugs into the wall or takes batteries, and you need any sort of help...I am the one to come to your rescue. I will even help you in making purchasing decisions, and help you to get exactly what you need for the best price possible. My specialty is breaking down all of the techinical aspects and presenting it to you in real world speak. You can find out more here.

I am also a Mobile Notary Public. I am bonded and insured in the State of Washington. I primarly cover real estate loan signings, but can perform any notary act. I come to your location, whether it be home or office, or we can meet at the corner Starbucks. I am available on short notice, or by appointment, with no additional charge for after-hours and weekends.

Always looking to network with other businesses in the area, as I am often being asked for advice on local services that fall outside of my expertise. My belief has always been that word of mouth is the best advertising, and I reward generously for referrals. You can contact me directly here or reply to this post.

Hello and welcome to the Seattle Networking Group!

My plans for this community include - developing a place for like-minded business people to interact, network and share information about what has worked and what hasn't worked in their efforts to promote their local businesses.

I'd love to see new members post a brief introduction of themselves and their business.
Need some advice, or have some advice to offer? Interested in giving and receiving referrals? Maybe you have a rant or a rave about a service you used for your business?
This is the place for all of these things.

The more active members we have, the better the exchange of information!

Thanks for visiting, and I hope to see you back soon.
